Biography:
My experience involves working alongside military and civilian first responders from all disciplines for the past 20 years. I served as a Naval Officer, working with special and conventional forces who were exposed to accumulated trauma due to the nature of their occupation and their deployments. I am the Founder/Executive Director of the First Responder Project, Inc., a nonprofit whose mission is to provide services and resources to those in the line of service and their families.
I work with people who are repeatedly exposed to threat, tragedy, and trauma in their careers and who would rather not seek assistance, but who want to understand why we struggle to compartmentalize trauma, how our minds and bodies can be triggered, and how we reconcile and recalibrate when the weight of grief, inhumanity, and injustice starts to change us in a way we don't like.
Specialties: Trauma exposure, depression, anger, anxiety, marital/parenting issues, retirement transition
