About Us

Redline Rescue

Proudly operated by UCF RESTORES, Redline Rescue is dedicated to the mission of serving firefighters and their families in their times of need. We are a community of firefighters and professionals committing to serving those who serve selflessly behind the badge.

This site grew out of one firefighter’s commitment to resiliency and recovery through connectivity to the community.

This mission is built on the foundation of connecting firefighters and their families to trained Peer providers and culturally competent clinicians in their times of need.

Through education and community, this movement helps provide the support needed to deliver sustainable healing for the fire service family.

Originally a collaboration between UCF RESTORES and the Florida Firefighters Safety and Health Collaborative, UCF RESTORES launched the initial website in 2021. The current site has benefitted greatly from a grant from the State of Florida Department of Children and Families (LH843) and from the support of First Lady Casey DeSantis.

How do I become a listed as a

Peer Support Provider or Clinician?

Redline Rescue uses artificial intelligence to match the specialties/experience of peer support specialists and clinicians to firefighters and their families who are seeking support. Please carefully check the options that best describe your personal and professional experience with stress and trauma. Firefighters in need will be able to search for peer support providers on personal characteristics, physical location, and experience with a variety of stressors. For clinicians, first responders will be able to search based on physical location, insurances accepted, availability of a sliding fee scale, and areas of clinical expertise.

To become a peer support provider:

  1. You must first complete a recognized peer support training course. Currently, graduates of 5 peer support training programs are recognized by Redline Rescue. They include UCF REACT Training Peer Support, IAFF Peer Support, NOVA Peer Support, Illinois Peer Support, and North Carolina Peer Support. You will need to upload your certificate as part of the registration process.
  2. You will be asked to list the areas of emotional distress where you feel that you have personal or professional experience. With respect to four common categories of emotional stress – anger, addiction, anxiety/trauma, and depression/suicide – you will see a series of short videos for each of these areas. Each video will have four options using the green, yellow, orange and red designations, which you learned in your training. For each of the four areas – watch the four short videos and click on the color which best describes your personal experience with these areas. For example, if you have never had a problem with addiction, you would click the green video. If you have had personal struggles with addiction, click the video that best illustrates your experience.
  3. Upload a “headshot” photo of yourself. Do not include other individuals, your pets, or any other physical objects. The picture should show you in work or casual, but appropriate, attire. Redline Rescue reserves the right to reject any picture that does not meet these guidelines.

To become a registered clinician:

  1. You must complete the Cultural Competency Workshop, the Clinician Awareness Program, and a 10-hour ride along at a fire rescue department. Be sure to keep your documentation as you will need to upload it into the registration portal.
  2. Carefully go through the list of specialties, indicating your area of expertise.
  3. Upload a "headshot" photo of yourself. Do not include other individuals, your pets, or any other physical objects. The picture should show you in business or business casual attire. Redline Rescue reserves the right to reject any picture that does not meet these guidelines.
